Ms. Condon and I would like to thank you for sending in Valentine snacks for our classes! We really enjoyed exchanging our Valentines and working on Valentine themed activities. Ask your students about the line plots they made math with their conversation hearts.
We are still deep into our fractions unit! As we wrap up multiplying fractions we took a break to review and prepare for our Winter Benchmark Assessment, which we are still in the process of finishing. Challenge your students to practice their fraction operations at home! | Students are working hard on their research writing. They have chosen topics and are spending their time collecting information and organizing their ideas. We are looking forward to writing these essays. Ask your student what he or she is writing about and have them show you some reliable sources they have found! |
After weeks learning about the uneven heating of the Earth, we are moving into understanding the water cycle and weather. Students have learned that the Earth is unevenly heated by forces of radiation, conduction and convection and how these affect air movement and temperature. Ask students about some of the experiments we have been doing! | Students finished their interactive posters about their empires. We are now working with primary sources about the age of exploration. Looking ahead, students will be studying the colonies and the road to the American Revolution. What an exciting time in American history! Keep these conversations happening at home! |
Check out some of the FUN we've been having!
Mr. Grenham visited us to spend some time reading and talking about how to be both humble and confident and strategies for conflict resolution.
Check out the students creative, interactive Social Studies posters!
Look at that use of robotics!
Similar to December conferences, March conferences are run with the option of having your conference led by your child. This would require you to bring your child with you to your conference time and the student will lead the conference while we facilitate. In the past, parents and students have found this an extremely rewarding experience. This differs from a typical conference model where the teacher leads the conference without the student present.
This is a personal choice for parents to make. We recognize conferences can be a time to discuss sensitive content and it is not always the best choice for the family to have the student present. Please choose whatever model works best for you!
